Terms for submission

When a page is submitted our spider visits and collects information from that page. All pages submitted must be PICS labeled with either ICRA or SafeSurf, either individually or at the server level. Pages must also conform to our Terms of Use. For help labeling please click here. Unlabeled pages are not allowed. Once added, continued placement is dependent on the continued presence of PICS labels. All too often, labels disappear when web sites are updated. We only allow labeled pages in our directory and we recheck them often. Not just a random sampling, ALL of them. We take the labeling of web content very seriously.

If the individual submitting the page provides an email address, they will receive a confirmation from our autoresponder but only if that address originates at the same domain being submitted. Otherwise, we replace it with webmaster@domain for our own records and do not send a confirmation. This precaution is necessary to prevent users from spamming third parties not associated with domains submitted to our directory.

Description and keywords for your listings are gathered from meta tags on the page. Keep in mind that the worst thing you can do with your keyword and description meta tags is to use the exact same text for them throughout your entire web site and, next to being unlabeled, is the quickest way to have pages from your site excluded from our directory. We need unique content for the directory to be of value to our users. If no description and keyword meta tags are found, the first text found in the body of the document is used instead. The next quickest way to have your domain barred is to submit pages to every category in the directory. The maximum is three for any web page and only if appropriate for the category so please use good judgement. We would give you some examples of who we've barred for this infraction but that would require us to give you their domains, possibly rewarding them with traffic for their bad behavior.

Bottom line: Be responsible. Be rewarded.
